About Neythen
Neythen has been playing the baritone for 6 years since 2009, and more recently the euphonium.
Living in Cornwall, Neythen is passionate about music - performance, composition and listening.
Early Years
Neythen first picked up a baritone in 2019, aged just 6. Coming from a family of musicians, it was perhaps inevitable he would start playing.
In 2020, Neythen started taking formal lessons and joined Saltash Town Band's training band.
Progressing
In 2021 aged just 8, Neythen became a principal player with Saltash Town Band on the baritone.
In the same year, he joined both the Cornwall Youth band and St Austell Youth band, both on solo baritone.
In 2022, Neythen was invited to join the National Childrens Brass Band of Great Britain, joining them for their summer course under the direction of Russell Gray.
Today
Today, Neythen plays euphonium for Bodmin Town Band. He has also taken the solo euphonium position at St Austell Youth Band.
At the end of 2025, Neythen will be joining the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain where he will join other elite young players from across the UK.
Concerts and Lessons
In 2022 Neythen started taking lessons with Ross Farr-Semmens, a brass and keyboard teacher in Plymouth.
Together, they regularly undertake concerts and participate in music festivals across the South West of the UK.
2024 saw Neythen awarded a performance scholarship from the East Bach Choir in Cornwall and an invitation to perform with them at one of their concerts.
In 2025 Neythen performed to all of the delgates at the Rotary International Conference in Plymouth, as the guest performer.
